The Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey, Inc. (CCGNJ) has announced that Governor Chris Christie has proclaimed March 2017 as Problem Gambling Awareness Month in NJ, marking the official start of the month's activities. The Governor urged all NJ residents to help spread the message that there is help for problem gamblers through treatment as well as support for those who are in recovery and their families. "The goal of this month is to increase awareness about problem and disordered gambling among health professionals, problem gamblers and the general public and where they can go for help," said Neva Pryor, Executive Director of the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey. The theme for 2017 is "Problem Gambling: "HAVE THE CONVERSATION". The month focuses on the prevention, treatment and hope available to the problem gambler and their families.
